As with compliance to our religious activities, I hauled my sleepy brain and tired body out of the bed before I changed my mind, to accompany Dad, Uncle and a bunch of cousins into hiking all the way up to a mountain to pray for the gods of heaven. I am not mocking my families’ belief or whatever, I’m mocking the fact that I have to wake up so early on a vacation. Vacation! I don’t mind doing it on any other day, everyone knows I love hiking and climbing mountains. Blood was calling and so blood has answered with a lot of complaining on the side.

It was a beautiful day, mind you, to climb. The sun was shining prettily down on us, a bit chilly so I was holding real tight on my layer of clothing. We started walking at around 8 in the morning and was expected to be at the summit after less than two hours (it wasn’t that high a mountain in fairness) but since there’s a bunch of us making our way up there, you can’t really blame if it halts us. And that is exactly what happened. I was huffing and puffing and catching my breath every so often, only had the summit idea to keep me walking forward.

Trips to Lake Tahoe on summer vacations are always a fond memory for me and my family. Driving west to Nevada and California just to dip in the the cold water of the lake when the temperature is bearable enough for us. Because of its popularity as the largest alpine lake in the North America and being the second deepest lake in America, thousands of tourists like us visit Tahoe to see the wonderful lake and the surrounding mountain views.

We never ran out of activities to do in here. If we get tired of swimming, we can always go boating, hiking, skiing or trail biking. Father almost always spent his time fishing somewhere and he let us kids just wander all by ourselves, running around aimlessly and discovering the place with our youthful delight. At nights, we sometimes camp outside and cook our dinners over the fire, laughing and talking endlessly about our Tahoe adventures.

If you’re the type who enjoys going out into hiking trips for the benefit of the body and the mind, if you enjoy camping in the woods, mountains or even just in your own backyard and if you find nature helps you to unwind from your daily hectic activities, then outdoor life can definitely be your thing.

From the simple hiking trips near your areas, to mountain walking, forest camping to mountain climbing, there’s no greater joy in going out and appreciating nature and having fun in the process. Some do backpacking, mountain biking, fishing, mobile packing (usually with RVs in specified campsites). In backpacking, backpackers usually carry all their supplies where they will be staying for some time.

It is totally self sufficient as you go to places with about everything you can carry. Forest camping and mountain climbing requires a bit more complicated task of carrying the necessary gears to use such as tents, cooking sets and wearing the proper attire.
